Trans people offline: “It’s fine if you don’t want to have sex with us. We just hate how you talk about how fuckable or not fuckable we are every single time you see us. We exist for more reasons than to have sex with you.”

Trans people on AO3: “you’re transphobic if you can’t masturbate to trans porn.”

I love this game because it rarely makes exceptions. One of the first rules you learn is “a Roller won’t attack you if an obstacle is in the way.” Over halfway through the game, you can still be surprised to realize “wait, this new gameplay element is technically an obstacle, so Rollers won’t attack through it.” You can be dumbfounded by things you already learned, because the situation looks so different you don’t expect the old rules to apply.

I love this game because the devs thought of everything. If you think of an interesting way two monsters could interact, there’s a puzzle somewhere that uses it. If you think of a cheap way to cheese a puzzle, you’ll run out of time exactly one step before your goal, so go back and do it properly. Every new monster is an incredible expansion of the possibility space, yet every possibility is accounted for.

I love this game because it feels consistent. You don’t know much about the world, but everything you learn makes sense, ties together thematically, and maintains the overall tone.

Please buy this game.

I get why the Incubators don’t admit their methods and the result thereof, but I think they’d encounter less friction if they were 10% more honest. “It’s common for humans to want to fight witches, and I help because I need grief seeds, but I don’t directly involve myself in natural conflicts between humans. Whatever you choose to do as a magical girl, I won’t stop you, and I won’t stop other magical girls if your actions provoke them to fight you.”

They could even be honest about their attitude. “I’m not human, and I’m not capable of feeling friendship the way a human would. But I understand mutual benefit, and this arrangement benefits both humanity and myself. I won’t do anything to jeopardize the supply of grief seeds.”

This does provoke the possibility of someone asking if they make witches, but someone could ask that in canon. I’m not sure how they wriggle out of that.

The biggest remaining point of friction between them and humans would be how they approach magical girl groups. They don’t want magical girls to support each other so much they stop becoming witches. But witchification seems to be inevitable on a long enough timespan, and they still have plenty of time to save the universe.

New California legislation harshly punishes grand theft auto. Actual quote: “This is not a game.”

A Batman idea: Gotham’s problems are circular. The rich want a strong police force, since the gangs are out of control and the cops mostly harass the poor anyway. The cops have so much leeway and so little oversight that they can get away with taking bribes. With the cops bribed, the gangs can do whatever they want, but the rich just go “that’s why we need more cops to stop the gangs!”

Batman attacks this problem by reducing the need for the police, but he can’t protect all of Gotham by himself. Jim Gordon fires corrupt officers, but he can’t guarantee every new hire will be morally pure. The only long-term solution is more oversight, so even cops who want to take bribes aren’t able to do so.

Since the poor often have problems voting due to issues like a lack of fixed residence, Bruce Wayne tries to build up the middle class. In the long term, there will be more voters who’re in a stable position but want to keep the cops in check.

The Guardians are new to having an independent culture. They have no old traditions passed down from before slavery, because they were enslaved as soon as they were made. They could create stories and jokes to share with a small group, but their movements were too restricted for an idea to spread in a wide area. There are a lot of things they still have no consensus on, and one of the most important is shapeshifting.

Okay, so if I'm getting this right, the complaint that person was making about Fullmetal Alchemist was that in the end, society isn't restructured to prevent another genocide. But I think that's a really tall order to ask of the mangaka. I mean, my society isn't structured to prevent genocide, and I don't think Japan's society is structured to prevent genocide, either. Democracies still participate in genocides, so I don't know what a genocide-preventing society would look like.
